I am Derek White, an ex Merchant Navy Officer now working in Information Technology & Data Processing. For the last 18 years or so I have been a professional programmer / analyst. In 1997 I acquired a home internet connection and discovered Comic Chat. In Jan 1998 having upgraded Comic Chat to Microsoft Chat 2.1 beta for the colour text & characters, I settle down to do some serious chatting. It's quickly apparent that some room members can see me differently to others, and I am certainly not seeing everyone as the character they claim to be using. Decided to write a program using Delphi 1.0 since it's the programming language in which I am most experienced. The program searched Web sites that had additional replacement characters and alert me to which ones I am missing. I called the program ChatCheck.
